Continuing to receive the international recognition for its excellent social endeavors, Dai-ichi Life Insurance Company of Vietnam, Ltd. ("Dai-ichi Life Vietnam") is the only life insurer in Vietnam to win the “Asia Responsible Entrepreneurship Awards” 2017 under the Social Empowerment category, for its outstanding and exemplary achievements in social and responsible entrepreneurship during the past ten years through various community and CSR initiatives as well as the establishment of its CSR Foundation “For a better life”. Among its many initiatives, “Million bricks for a happy life” project – funding the construction of 10 bridges in disadvantaged rural areas of Vietnam - was highly praised. Hosted regionally by Enterprise Asia, the awards ceremony was held solemnly on June 2nd, 2017 in Bangkok, Thailand.

The project “Million bricks for a happy life” was initiated by Dai-ichi Life Vietnam on the occasion of celebrating the company’s milestone of serving one million customers. Under this project, Dai-ichi Life Vietnam sponsored VND1 billion and coordinated with the local authorities to build 10 concrete bridges in the rural areas of provinces, namely Hau Giang, An Giang, Tra Vinh, Tuyen Quang, Lao Cai, Thai Nguyen, Vinh Long, Gia Lai, Quang Binh and Binh Phuoc, to facilitate safe daily travelling for local people, especially children can go to school in the flooding season.
Besides its business achievements, Dai-ichi Life Vietnam has initiated various impactful philanthropy and community projects with the contribution of more than 19 billion dong, such as charity eyes surgery program, drinking water purification project for needy schools, scholarship and warm jacket granting to hard-working pupils, relief supply for flood victims in the Central, annual blood donation, etc. Previously, Dai-ichi Life Vietnam was honorably granted the “Corporate Social Responsibility Award” by Asia Insurance Review for two times, the 1st time in the year of 2013 with the project “For A Better Life” – providing clean drinking water for more than 18,000 pupils in the rural provinces of Vietnam, and the 2nd time in November 2015 with the aforementioned project “Million bricks for a happy life” - building 10 bridges in the rural areas of Vietnam.
The “Asia Responsible Entrepreneurship Awards”, hosted regionally since 2009, are designed by Enterprise Asia, the leading non-governmental organization for entrepreneurship all over Asia, to recognize and honor Asian businesses for championing sustainable and responsible entrepreneurship based on 4 pillars: Environment, Fair practices, the Community and its People. This year awards attracted over 300 submissions from 12 Asian countries, of which 50 companies were honored at the rewarding ceremony. The awards’ Panel of Jurors was made up of regionally reputable experts, regulators and leaders from various industries in Asia. Throughout a 3-month judging process, winners were chosen under three criteria: the ability to demonstrate the design and execution of sound and effective CSR programs, to demonstrate the extent that CSR practices have been institutionalized within their organizations, and the measurable impacts of their programs to the people, community and environment.
